It is home to the world famous Craster Kippers and the interesting Kipper sheds are a predominant feature when you enter the village. The lovely smoky fishy smell add to the unique experience.
These are three fantastic reasons for visiting Craster
- The amazing coastal walk to the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle is one of England’s finest walks and is simply breathtaking.
- The Jolly Fisherman pub is truly one of the best in Northumberland with amazing views over the harbour and sea.
- Craster Kippers and Craster Salmon available to purchase from world famous Robson family.
There is no space to park in the actual village so purchase a ticket for the council car park on the right as you approach the village.
You can take your dog into the “bar” of the pub and in the summer there is a garden.
You can walk beyond the ruins of Dunstanburgh and you will end up at Low Newton by the Sea. Which has a stunning beach and a good pub “The Ship” (which has a micro brewery). Here you can get some fresh crab sandwiches.
